Tomás Cano
Tomás Cano is researcher and lecturer at Goethe University of Frankfurt, affiliate to the ARC Centre of Excellence for Children and Families over the Life Course (Australia) and Early Career Fellow of the Work & Family Research Network (United States). He did his PhD in Sociology at Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona) and has been researcher, lecturer or invited researcher at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW-Berlin), The University of Queensland (Australia), University of Cologne (Germany), Complutense University of Madrid (Spain) or Institute of Education – Univesity College Longon (UK), among others. His research is located at the intersection of social stratification, family demography and developmental psychology. In particular, he is interested in the analyses of how different parental practices affect child cognitive development, how unpaid work affects women’s careers, the consequences of divorce for children, or sibling similarities in occupational and income trajectories over the life course. His research has appeared in top-ranked journals like Journal of Marriage and Family or European Sociological Review, covered by relevant media outlets in several developed countries, and awarded by the International Sociological Association, Pompeu Fabra University, the Spanish Research Council, and the Sociological Association of Madrid.
