    Heather Landon was born in Ottawa, Canada. She received her undergraduate degree in Social Work from the University of Victoria, Canada, where she also completed a Masters degree in Public Administration. In addition, she was awarded a Masters of Science in Human Resource Management from the University of Manchester in the UK. Heather Landon has more than 25 years of management experience. From 1986 to 1998 she had several roles within the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and worked in countries of the former Soviet Union and in Jordan. She then started working for the United Nations and was Chief of the Administration in projects in Gaza, in the Kongo and in Sudan. She also worked for the United Nations Headquarters in New York. Among her achievements are the implementation of large change management programs, the coordination of the deployment of police and military personnel and the creation and implementation of Senior Mission Administration training programs. Heather climbed the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro and the Base Camp of Mount Everest.
