    Sylvia Schenk was born in 1952, studied law and worked as a labor judge for ten years. After this, she was head of the departments for sports, law and women; living in Frankfurt for 12 years (from 1989 until 2001). As an athlete she participated in the Olympic Games in Munich in 1972 where she came 9th. Before this, she had participated in a world record for a 4x800 meters relay in Lübeck in 1971. Moreover, she participated in the European championships in 1971 and 1974. From 2001 to 2004 she was president of the German cycling association “Bund DeutscherRadfahrer”. Then from 2007 to 2010 she was chairwoman of Transparency International Germany and since 2010 she has been a board member. While still being an active sportswoman and afterstanding up for equal treatment of women and against corruption and doping, she is now working as a lawyer in a firm in Frankfurt. In the interview with Rolf van Dick she talks about her personal leadership style, about the role of transparency and information and about the participation of employees. She talks about here different jobs, about being the first woman with leadership responsibility in these places, about the hostage-taking during the Olympic Games in 1972. Furthermore, she comments on the role of values in sports and in leadership.
