Prof. Anoush Margaryan
Professor Dr Anoush Margaryan is Alexander von Humboldt Senior Fellow and Visiting Professor in the Department of Sociology, Goethe University Frankfurt. She studies how people learn in the workplace, individually and as part of collectives (organisations, networks) and how they use digital technologies to learn. Anoush works at the intersection of Learning Sciences, Sociology, Psychology, Organisation Studies, HRD, and Internet Studies. She has over 100 publications, including 2 books. Anoush leads three interrelated strands of research on: (i) learning within crowdwork and the gig-economy; (ii) antecedents of self-regulated learning in the workplace, and (iii) learning from incidents.Her research has been funded by the UK ESRC, Shell, BP, ConocoPhillips, Centrica, Energy Institute and the UK Higher Education Academy. She has served as guest editor and editorial board member of Safety Science and Frontline Learning Research journals, reviews grant applications for several national research councils (UK ESRC, Dutch NWO, Latvian SEDA) and manuscripts for Routledge,Learning and Instruction, Computers and Education and Journal of Workplace Learning among others. She was previously Full Professor and Director of the Caledonian Academy, a research centre in technology-enhanced professional learning she co-founded at Glasgow Caledonian University in the UK in 2006.
