Tarek Al-Wazir was born in 1971 in Offenbach as a son of a German and a Yemenite. At age 14 he moved to his father in Yemen and lived there for two years. He studied politics at the Goethe University. From the age of 20 he has been, with short interruptions, a member of the council meeting of Offenbach. Since 1989 he has been a member of the green party, was from 1992 to 1994 chairman of the green youth of Hessen and was elected in the national party council in 2006. Since 2007 he was a federal chairman of the Bündnis 90/Die Grünen in Hessen, and in 2009 he was candidate at the federal elections.Also he has been chairman of the parliamentary party in the Federal state parliament in Wiesbaden, since 2000. Tarek Al-Wazir is speaker of the parliamentary party and member of the broadcasting council of Hessen. In the interview with Rolf van Dick he talks about leadership and compromises in politics, about his personal experiences with leadership as a young chairman of the parliamentary party and green values.
